Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham, was in Solihull for the official opening of Spire Parkway Hospitals new CT scanner. Lord Jones met the first patient to be diagnosed using the machine Zorka Jenkinson. Mrs Jenkinson, from Shirley, knew a lot more than the average patient about the technology because she set up and ran the Nuclear Medicine Department at Birminghams Queen Elizabeth Hospital for over 30 years, spending her last five years there as Chief Physicist Nuclear Medicine Specialist. The 400,000 scanner is part of a 1.4 million investment by Spire Parkway in equipment and building development.
