More than 120 local people and members of the nearby business community attended a charity Gala Ball at the Limes Country Lodge in Earlswood, Solihull on September 18th in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. A considerable amount of money was raised for the charity.
The event was organised by the Limes to celebrate their arrival on the Warwickshire hospitality scene as one of the areas up and coming venues. David and Paulette Morris, the owners of the hotel, were delighted with the success of the evening: 'We wanted to mark the completion of the hotel's development with a major event and this was a perfect way to do it. The idea of a gala dinner with entertainment was extremely well received and everyone had a great evening'.
David, who also runs the locally-based Premier Group financial services organisation, was particularly pleased that so many friends from financial organisations (such as Norwich Union, Scottish Equitable, F&C ), as well as members of the Solihull Chamber of Commerce, lent their support to the charity. After a champagne and canaps reception followed by a gourmet dinner, the rest of the evening was hosted by Paul Burrell from Capital Gold Radio. As well as enjoying entertainment from Clayton Stevens and the Black Country Boys, guests rounded off the event with the auction of a rugby shirt signed by Martin Johnson and a signed photo of Lewis Hamilton to raise more funds for Macmillan's excellent work.
The event marks the culmination of a life-long ambition for David Morris - to acquire a small country hotel in its own grounds (and in a wonderfully convenient location set amidst picturesque countryside in Earlswood) and to transform it into a conference and banqueting venue to rival anything in the region. Just off junction 3 of the M42, the hotel aims to provide a particularly personal event-organising service for its guests, no matter how large or small their individual requirements. They pride themselves on attention to detail and first class customer service and are already planning more events for the Christmas party season.
