How a dream for the perfect venue came true in the heart of England.
Heart of England Conference and Events Centre, and Heart Park and Beach owe their existence to the passion, devotion, and hard work of managing director, Stephen Hammon. An entrepreneur at heart, Stephen started his working life back in the 1980s laying turf with his father during the day and, in the evening, DJ-ing at weddings, parties and in pubs. It wasnt long before Stephen had added bouncy castles and karaoke to his portfolio and Heart of England Promotions was born!
On Boxing Day 2001, Stephen went on a quest for land as the business had outgrown its site. Fate was on his side on when he stumbled across a derelict farm on the Heart of England Way. Sitting on the farmhouse steps, looking out across the 160 acre countryside and woodland site, Stephen knew that this was home-to-be for his expanding business the contract was signed on Valentines Day.
Much has happened since. The unloved, 16th century farmhouse has been restored to its former glory and has seven executive style en-suite rooms. The derelict outbuildings and pig sties have been transformed into a marvellous conference and events centre, and the lovely Quicken Tree Restaurant has been added, with spectacular views from its terrace. Brides and grooms are also catered for. The marquee and banqueting suite provide a fabulous experience for civil ceremonies and wedding celebrations.
The Heart of England is now synonymous with exciting and innovative events, utilising Stephens amazing creativity and imagination, supported by a skilled events team and AV Technician. The Heart of England has amassed a spectacular array of equipment for indoor and outdoor activities, as well purpose built 4x4 and quad bike courses.
Each October, the centre is transformed by Spooktacular! - a dramatic and scary theatrical performance, now in its seventh year - testament to Stevens capability, skill and scope for event management. Last years event involved an alien invasion in the woods, a purpose built space ship, sinister military characters and white coated figures!
Taking stock of business during the global financial downturn, Stephen diversified into tourism to protect business and secure jobs for his staff. Heart of England Country Park and Beach opened offering Englands most central beach with a five acre lake, beach cove and The Rock Shop the perfect day at the beach for land-locked Midlanders, saving a four hour round-trip to the coast!
In true Heart of England style, this development involved vision, innovation, determination and energy, along with heavy investment in 1,500 tonnes of soft, pale sand, 10,000 tonnes of local sandstone, to say nothing of hard labour! Heart Park reopens for the Spring season on 27th March, in time for the Easter Holiday break with great facilities
for family fun and enjoyment in the open air.
