1500 RAISED BY VERY WET WARWICK BOAT CLUB TENNIS LADIES!

The rain may have come pouring down but 60 Warwick Boat Club tennis ladies rose to the challenge and donned their waterproofs for a tennis tournament, followed by lunch and raffle raising more than 1500 in aid of Riding for the Disabled (RDA).

Winners of the tournament were awarded a hanging basket for their prize.

A national charity, the local RDA Centre of England Group based at Lowlands Farm in Shrewley gives local children with disabilities the opportunity enjoy the chance of riding a pony, often for the first time in their life, assisted by experienced volunteers.

Event organiser and RDA volunteer Sue Robbins said I work with the RDA every week and it is lovely to see the positive effect riding a pony has on these children from Springfield House the special needs school in Knowle.

The monies raised go to supporting the costs of the ponies and facilities at Lowlands Farm.

For more information on volunteering and what the RDA do please visit: www.centreofenglandrda.org

After changing into dry clothes the ladies were served a delicious two course lunch cooked and served up by RDA volunteer Veronica Davis. The raffle draw followed and the top raffle prize of a portrait photography session with Danielle King who kindly took the photographs at the lunch.

Eventually the sun made an appearance in time for the prize giving where the tournament winners won a hanging basket of colourful petunias.
